Reflections

The first assignment taught me how to properly format a memo. I had never written one before, but after the class I can write one consistently moving forward. Also, learning to analyze ethos, logos, and pathos. I could always define them, but analyzing their effectiveness in a real piece of media really helped me understand them better as a tool.

My first article for my internship at the Game Haus taught me about the frustrations of working as a sports journalist. Sometimes you have to write disappointing things about who you cover. It also helped me grow as a writer because it was a longer amount of time to write about in a few words, compared to when I am normally writing about just one specific game.

My second article from the Game Hause on Corey Perry was another article much different than what I was usually tasked with. It taught me how to convey importance with my work. A lot of readers may not have known who Corey Perry was or why he was significant. I used logos, ethos, and pathos to show why this was a significant topic to cover.

The last article I have attached was another one different than my usual work of writing game summaries and previews. It taught me how to focus in on something different while still making the article attractive to a certain group. It was about an entire NHL event, but I had to make it still about the Ducks. It was just a new way of thinking about a piece for me.
